A Vessel on a White Lotus · Amoghapāśa Amoghapāśa Dhāraṇī · a continuous excerpt on the lotus, vase and its contents In the maṇḍala’s centre draw an eight-petalled white lotus. Then prepare an immaculate vase made of gold, silver or copper. Alternatively, it is also permissible to use a newly made, spotless clay, dark in colour. Fill the vase with fragrant water and add the five precious substances, five medicines, and five grains. Reading notes The surrounding text describes preparations for a ritual. Before this excerpt, a square maṇḍala with four gates is drawn; the lotus and vessel are then prepared. Visualisation of Avalokiteśvara, offerings and recitation of the dhāraṇī follow. The text associates the rite with removing obstacles and providing protection. A continuous quotation from Stefan Mang / Samye Translations (2023), published by Lotsawa House, with the corresponding Tibetan excerpt below. Russian translates this English passage; the noun “vase”, implicit in the English clay phrase, is supplied in brackets. This is part of the preparation for a rite, not the entire dhāraṇī. The excerpt’s scope is stated above. The Russian rendering has not received independent Tibetan philological review. Source and English translation: CC BY-NC 4.0; Russian is an adaptation.
