The same name belonged to incompatible lives.

Here an archival error becomes an event in the story: different accounts end up in one file. The fragment distinguishes a recurring name from a shared identity. The files returning to the shelf at 06:14 belong to the story, not the source check.

We searched backward for the man and found three incompatible lives.

In the earliest account, the name belonged to a golden dragon that could assume a human form. The witness wrote it as one word and added that the spelling might be wrong.

In the next, Elias Thorn was a scientist attempting to draw energy from living matter. There was no sea in the record. No lighthouse. No missing minute.

Later files placed him on a coast, inside a clock shop and between the shelves of a library with no entrance.

The archive had grouped the accounts as one person.

This was its first mistake.

Names can recur without identity. Roles can recur without memory. A pattern can cross several records without being a traveller.

We separated the files.

At 06:14, all three folders returned to the same shelf.

The shelf was labelled ORIGIN.

The label had no date.
